The Eight Ball History:

AND THE FIRST DAY....
was May 15,2002. What had been an ordinary fish-n-tackle supply store turned into The Eight Ball Billiard and Bar. Business was slow at first, but soon nearby neighbors began shuffling in to cool off from the Texas summer heat and take in the only iced-down, $1 beer in town. The everyones our friend and welcome home attitude made "the 8 ball," as it is commonly known, the most popular bar on the infamous Jacksboro Highway in Fort Worth, Texas. And who could miss the location? After all, we had a seven foot tall 8 ball on the rooftop. Actually, it was a globe that we painted, but it did the job.

In June of 2008 one of Texas good ol storms came through. The bartender said the roof was leaking, and for good reason. Half the roof had blown off and the 8 ball came loose and rolled down Jacksboro Highway. Thanks to Sansom Park Police, the ball was corralled and tied to a fence until it could be retrieved. We retired the globe, but a smaller version took its place on the roof.

Major renovations took place after the storm, but the construction didnt keep the 8 ball closed. Without electricity, we kept the beer iced down, the battery-operated radio playing, and the candles lit. This is where we adopted our slogan, "Where friends meet to meet new friends."

Of course, with a name like Eight Ball, one must have pool tables, right? Absolutely! We have pool tables and some pretty abled players any night of the week. In 2008, The American PoolPlayers Association asked if we would host a pool team and we said, "sure." We started with one team of five players.

In May of 2012, the 8 ball celebrated its 10th anniversary in style! Giveaways, drawings, food galore, beer, pool, and great friends. And currently, we have over twenty eight ball, nine ball, and doubles APA League teams.
